less being more.

I love it! Just one thing;

I think the cookie monster vocals want less reverb. or at least shorter reverberation.

'nuf said.

sidvicious512 responds:

I made a better version but I never uploaded it because there was a plan to re record the clean vocals. I have yet to get the vocalist to re record though.

I never really like using he vital instruments guitar, but you pulled it off nicely!

your carefull midi scripting really paid off!

sidvicious512 responds:

I'm impressed that you recognized that it was vital. I take it that you know of something better? This was actually the first time I've played with the guitar in vital and I found more than just a few limitations. I like the string set in vital but it annoys me that there is no pizzicato and that it has very limited control of vibrato.

The hazards of LP filters

I totally agree with sid.

Just wanted to add that you seem to be over using your Low Pass a bit. That's why your chords are sounding "mushed up" don't be afreaid to open up the band-width a little, or add a BP or HP filtered copy beneath your origional wash.

yagru responds:

thanks for your insight gentlemen

What're? no! stop the fade!

GAVE UP?! no, no, no. This is too good to leave as-is!

Seriously, if you don't finish this, I WILL. I'm going to download it and keep it archived just-in-case.

I'm giving it a "10" and a heart, because only inept production could mess this groove up. There just needs to be more of it.

What are you using, by the way?

Father-of-Death responds:

I am using Fruity Loops 8.

and I might finish it... maybe...

good music from meager equipment.

Nice breaks and composition. The Sax part is particularly well crafted, and has some good dynamics

The most noticible issue is the snare; far too out front, and could use a little more variation in volume if your editor will allow it.
secondly, I don't how much leeway you have here, but the whole thing sounds HEAVILY quantized, especially in the latter organ solo. The glisando is nice, but otherwise it's too much "on the grid".
-hope thishelps.

EmperorCharlemagne responds:

I thought people frowned down upon stuff that wasn't "on the grid"!
News to me!

Thanks for the criticisms; I made this on FL, so I do indeed have some leeway in how I can configure things, so I'll take your advice to heart.

Thanks a lot!

audio goodness!

2.61 ?! Looks like you got hit by haters. well, don't you believe it for a second! This is 5/5 - 10/10 material. Absolutely wonderfull.
I Don't usually give maximum ratinngs (this is the first I can remember giving), but wow! I'd rather listen to this than the Springsteen version any day.

I'm sorry that this review isn't more 'constructive', but I can't think of any way this could be better. Top notch!

Thor, god of thunder plays "peek-a boo"

I agree with Bluur04. I can hear that you've got a couple of tom fills leading in to those wonderfully majestic rock parts, but they aren't quite doing tyhe trick.

Maybee try cuting the arp and hat 2 or 4 beats before the big sound comes in, or a swell.

fabulous sound...I half-like the idea of autotuned vocals;
For the soft parts, yes.
For the rock parts, leave the vox messy, or none at all.
(but, the reverse of that might be interesting, too.)

out-standing base-line.

I Really like the baseline here, and how it starts super-simple then evolves as it goes on, and the emvelope fun on it was good, too. it was so nice at the Tail end, that I wished there was more of that variation in the middle.

(it might just be me, but are the claps and "tiss" a tad loud throughout?)

Anyway, Nice one.

yaup! it works.

Realy nice!
The orchestral bit works great, and it's nice to hear some one not afraid to use acoustic 'perc' rythems. Alot of good dynamics has a nice build and reliese of sound...
... except the waspy lead synth. What happened, did you get bored? Don't get me wrong, the melody and rythem of it are great. It just sounds a little flat-line compaired with the rest. (not a flaw, so much as somthing you might want to examine.)

I've been really heavy into 70's funk lately. prolly because I've been working on a funk based game. Wait, no. I've been working on a funk based game, because I'm really into funk.
